Maintenance of SWEB’s newest solar farm

Free board and lodging, flexible working hours and a little nap in the shadow now and then – the employee benefits for SWEB’s newest members of its operations crew are unbeatable.

50 sheep will call SWEB’s solar farm in Brookfield, US their home from May until October. The herd helps maintaining the 5 MW solar facility by grazing the site – a job that would otherwise require a noisy lawnmower. “This is quite a sustainable and fluffy operations and maintenance concept”, jokes Nick Durling, Operations Manager for SWEB.

The team-leader of Dolly & Co. is Reggie, a border collie who carries the official title of “Vice President of Operations”.
