Environmental Assessment
The New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government (DELG) requires that environmental assessments be conducted to minimize the potential environmental effects of a project. This process identifies and evaluates these effects early in project development, allowing for recommendations on mitigation measures to reduce any adverse impacts. Public consultation is a key component, enabling community members to provide feedback on the assessment during the review period. The assessment undergoes review by the DELG, relevant government agencies, other stakeholders, and First Nations Communities. Final approval from the New Brunswick Minister of the Environment is only granted once all environmental effects have been satisfactorily assessed and addressed, and appropriate mitigation measures and plans are in place to manage potential effects and feedback during project operations. Fieldwork for this Project has been completed, with the results scheduled to be disclosed in the first quarter of 2025, through subsequent public engagement sessions.
